New Mexico State University is the land grant university of the state of New Mexico and is an agriculture and engineering focussed university. The student population is around 18000 students (graduate and undergraduate). The Computer Science Department is a Ph.D. granting department with over 550 undergraduate and 140 graduate students. The department has core R&D strengths in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, areas that are nationally ranked.
